Brooks so my MacPro fried. Apple said it’d be a week, it was the videocard that died. The next week it was the Logic Board. The expenses kept piling up since I was out of warranty, and nothing fixed it. finally they said it was the heatsink. After 2 weeks of repairs and not fixing it, they gave me a whole new MacPro. Free. THAT is why you buy Apple.

And the fix is on.
My email, like everyone out there, seems to be simply a barometer for terrible things. Whether it is receiving a mass-emailing from LinkedIn (layoff time!) or emails from family all at once to indicate something tragic happening to a family member, groups of emails rarely have a positive meaning.
My email has another group that I hate to receive – people I don’t know. Yesterday was one of those days, too. I started receiving emails mid-afternoon, and they continued into this morning. Logging into Mail for the first time in a few days, I saw the glut of new friends to make – all asking the same question:
“Why did this happen?”
Yup – it seems there was another ‘Rage Shooting’, and within hours my mailbox filled up. Drives me nuts.
This time around it was another adult, not a child, who went out to get revenge on the world that had wronged them. At least, that’s how I immediately saw it. It was at the top of Reddit for a few moments, so I was able to read the article and garner that quickly. Turns out I was wrong.
CNN was there, thankfully, to correct me. Turns out there was two different reasons – racism and insanity. Yup – those two again. Seems every shooting ha those two ‘causes’ as far as the mainstream media is concerned.
But, I know better then to think ‘m wrong. I’ve seen enough of these to know a shooting that follows the formula of the rest. They all do. All of them. The troubling thing for me is that it’s almost become pedestrian. Normal.
They’re all ‘paint by numbers’, and it’s gotten annoying.
This time around, however, the killer kept a blog about his anger growth. Sure, other shooters have done that, but not a single one had this level of clarity. I would go into this here, but someone who understands this phenomenon as well as I do (but is able to write much better!) has already tackled it.
Mark Ames, the author of Going Postal (BUY IT!), has already made my point for me. Read through his article, then comment. My post tomorrow won’t make sense unless you do.
Done? Good. The man is dead on. And it’s damn terrifying.
